Element Guqin and its music (China)
Inscribed in 2008 (3.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (originally proclaimed in 2003)
Title EN: China’s most famous and appreciated traditional solo instrument, the Guqin zither has existed over 3,000 years. Different playing techniques fuse light flowing overtones with strong, clear sound. Guqin playing developed as an elite art form that Chinese scholars were expected to master.
Title FR: Vieille de 3000 ans, la cithare Guqin est l’instrument soliste traditionnel le plus connu et le plus apprécié de Chine. Des techniques de jeu multiples permettent de produire des sons légers et flottants, des notes claires et sonores. Le jeu du Guqin s’est développé comme un art réservé à l’élite, que tout lettré Chinois se devait de maîtriser.
Title ES: La guqin, cítara china que existe desde hace más de 3.000 años, es el más célebre y apreciado instrumento solista tradicional de China. El uso de distintas técnicas de interpretación permite combinar sonidos claros y fuertes con armónicos de etérea resonancia. La práctica del guqin llegó a considerarse propia de las élites, una forma de arte que toda persona culta debía dominar.
