يمثل “التمبوراداس” طقساً من الطقوس الصاخبة والجماعية التي تقوم على القرع المتزامن والمكثف والمتواصل لآلاف الطبول، لعدة أيام وليال في الأماكن العامة في المدن والقرى. ويولّد هذا التقليد مشهداً ساحراً من الإيقاعات في كل عام وشعوراً بالانتماء إلى الهوية في جو مشحون بالعواطف والشعور القوي بالتواصل الجماعي. وتُقرع الطبول في إطار الاحتفال بأسبوع الآلام لدى الكاثوليك، ويكتسي ذلك معنى خاصاً بحسب الأماكن والأيام والأوقات. وتخلق هذه الممارسة في كل مكان، سواء أكانت دينية أم عبادية أم علمانية ومسلية، جواً من الأحاسيس والاحترام المتبادل. ونتج عن الأزياء والآلات وقرع الطبول حرفة محلية غنية تؤدي فيها الأُسر والمرأة دوراً هاماً. وتعزز الوجبات التي يتم تقاسمها في الأماكن العامة مشاعر المودة والألفة. وتستعد المجتمعات المحلية التي تنتظم في مجموعات لهذه الطقوس على مدار السنة. ويتولى الأفراد الأكثر خبرة نقل الممارسة والمعارف المرتبطة بها فيما بين هذه المجموعات، الأمر الذي يولد لدى جميع أفراد المجموعة شعوراً قوياً بالانتماء إلى المجموعة وارتباطاً وثيقاً بهذا التقليد. وتكفل مختلف الفعاليات التي تُنظَّم في هذا الإطار توارث هذه الممارسة عبر الأجيال، ويُذكر منها على سبيل المثال مهرجانات “التمبوراداس” الوطنية والمخصصة للأطفال، وحلقات العمل الخاصة بقرع الطبول وتطريز الملابس، والمسابقات.
