Declaration on Beirut issued by the eighth session of the General Assembly
New composition of the Committee
The eighth session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (previously foreseen from 25 to 27 August) has been rescheduled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to 8 to 10 September 2020 (UNESCO Headquarters, Paris).
Over the three days, 178 States Parties will discuss a number of issues that are important for the safeguarding of living heritage around the world. Participants are required to register online by the deadline of 28 August 2020. Due to limitations on seating capacity (two people per delegation at any one time in Room I and a limited number of Observers can be seated in the mezzanine), participants who have not registered by that date cannot be guaranteed access to the meeting rooms.
Please also note that audio transmission will be provided in another room and the debates will be broadcast live on this webpage.
During the meeting, participants will be required to respect physical distancing practices and sanitary measures (including wearing a mask) in line with host country rules and UNESCO guidance. Details on these measures will be shared with all participants in advance of the meeting.
