    International Voluntary Service Work

    #IVSwork is a social media campaign by CCIVS that promotes and raises awareness of the projects ran by International Voluntary Service organisations. 2020 is the 100 years anniversary since the first IVS workcamp which took place in 1920 in Esne, near Verdun. IVS promotes social and climate justice, human rights, sustainability, critical thinking, active participation, democracy, global citizenship, shared and intercultural learning and helps to break down prejudice and stereotypes. It contributes to the Implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout this photo series, we share more about our values, our history and our work. It is our values and work that link people. History connects our past, our present and our future.

    COVID-19 Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grants

    Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we have seen so many community members sharing their creativity, time, and resources to help their neighbours during these difficult times. We launched a new "COVID-19 Responsive" version of an existing program called Neighbourhood Small Grants to make it easier for our communities to keep supporting each other! Any individual community member (i.e. not a non-profit or registered charity) can apply for a grant of up to $500 support projects that build resilience, foster creativity and wellbeing, and tackle social isolation while adhering to physical distancing guidelines. There is no deadline, and grants will be reviewed every two weeks.

    The Cultural Heritage Browser has been initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Serbia with the strategic support of Microsoft Office in Serbia. Through a comprehensive search, visitors of the Portal can obtain essential information about the digitized cultural heritage and have access to the interactive map of the cultural institutions on the territory of the Republic of Serbia. It provides information about the cultural heritage preserved in libraries, archives, museums, galleries, institutes for the protection of monuments and other entities in the field of culture.

    World Citizen Report and Employee Report

    An open platform for citizens to report their status and actions considering the Covid-19 pandemic. Allows the citizen to self-report on their status and actions as well as define their recent whereabout by location or GoogleTimeline import. The Employee reporting solution let the company send out an invitation or share a link for employees to report their status to the company. The company receives an overview of the employee situation and may take action upon it.

    CoronavirusMediaWatch

    The Slovenian Government has recently established the first International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence under the auspices of UNESCO (IRCAI). The Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO is a strong and active partner in the work of IRCAI. IRCAI almost overnight launched the Corona Virus Media Watch that uses global and national news updates to create powerful narratives and visualizations that ultimately can take us further into future predictions of how the pandemic is evolving across the world. IRCAI will contribute with the following, but not limited ideas/solutions/technologies: • “Digital Twin” proposal for global / country level for any global crisis • Public facing portal with analytical visualizations on Coronavirus involving various data sources • Comprehensive AI software library and services to tackle other specific problems related to Coronavirus and similar potential future threats

To cope with disinformation, Suusamyr-fm radio talks about how to read the news, how to teach children about information literacy and media, how to beware of false experts, etc.

    #CoronaStories Campaign

    The UNESCO Almaty Office will support a global storytelling initiative/campaign that will engage with young people around the world, and particularly young women and young scientists, to share their stories of courage, solidarity and resilience, as well as their perspectives on how the COVID-19 crisis is and will be affecting their lives and their communities. It is planned to mobilize Central Asian young scientists for #CoronaStories campaign, in which they will translate scientific information into simple and understandable language, dispel the myths and fake information about COVID-19, and ensure science-based information on COVID-19 and precaution methods.

    Production of Multimedia Content on Youth-led Initiatives to Prevent COVID-19

    UNESCO produced a video highlighting the youth-led efforts in Yemen to combat the spread of the virus through online and offline awareness-raising activities. The video has been produced in partnership with RNW Media and shared throughout the national youth online platform Manasti30.com. A mapping of youth and cultural associations investing in awareness-raising in Yemen has also been produced to identify future pilot projects.
