Cette étude envisage de comprendre l'importance de la sexualité chez les adolescents, l'évolution et les différences de comportement sexuel, les connaissances et attitudes sur la planification familiale et la santé de reproduction et le SIDA, les différences dans l'utilisation des méthodes contraceptives par les adolescentes mariées et les célibataires au cours des 15 dernières années et enfin par les adolescentes mariées et autres femmes mariées. Les résultats de l'étude montrent la complexité, la sensibilité et l'urgence des problèmes qui se posent.
HIV counseling is an important component of HIV/AIDS prevention. Evaluations from Uganda and Rwanda demonstrated this. Yet, there is a reluctance among some decision-makers and service managers to give HIV counseling its proper due as a discipline through which trained practitioners can produce measurable useful results. It is under-resourced and not fully appreciated.

This handbook for students is the last in a series of three documents designed for educational planners, teachers and students on school health education and the prevention of HIV/AIDS and STDs. It includes some fifty-three student learning activities on prevention of HIV/AIDS and STDs. The activities are divided into four units: 1) basic knowledge on HIV/AIDS and STDs; 2) abstinence and postponement of first sexual contact; 3) practicing safer sex; and 4) counselling and support.
