39th Session of the General Conference

39GC-NGO space

The NGO space will be located in the heart of the public areas of the General Conference, on the ground floor of Fontenoy building - entrance Ségur Hall, and will be open from 31 October to 11 November inclusive.

It will be both an information point and a meeting place, open to NGOs and Member States.

Presentations and mini-debates about the work of the General Conference and UNESCO, the collective work of NGOs driven by the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee, such as the International Forums and the celebration of International Days, will be held throughout the duration of the General Conference.

These debates are open to all participants of the Conference.

The Secretariat and the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee will be available to provide participants in the General Conference with relevant information regarding official partnership with NGOs and to facilitate NGOs’ participation in the work of the General Conference.

Representatives of Member States could be particularly interested in participating in the following mini-conferences:

  • Tuesday 7 November 2017

    • 12:00 – 13:00:
      The NGO Forums from 2013 to 2017: Assessment and Perspectives
      with Mr Eric Falt and Mr Philippe Beaussant
      (followed by a friendly drink)
  • Wednesday 8 November 2017

    • 14:00 – 14:30:
      Working with Civil Society: UNESCO official partnership with NGOs
    • 14:30 – 15:15:
      Intangible Cultural Heritage and the ICHNGO Forum: The collective engagement of NGOs
  • Thursday 9 November 2017

    • 12:00 – 13:00:
      Presentation of the forthcoming Forum of NGOs on climate change
