Developing Iraq’s next National Education Strategy 2021 – 2030 (INES)

UNESCO, in partnership with UNICEF and the World Bank, is supporting the Government of Iraq to develop its next National Education Strategy 2021 – 2030.  UNESCO has mobilized the technical expertise of its International Institute of Educational Planning (UNESCO-IIEP) to support the Iraqi Government in this process.

 

A virtual workshop facilitated by UNESCO-IIEP and UNICEF was organized on 22nd September to present the results of the Education Situation Analysis (ESA) for the General Education, Higher Education and TVET Sub-Sectors.

 

The Sub-Sectoral Working Group comprises the representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Planning and the Prime Minister Advisory Commission. Discussions were held on the sub-sectoral problem tree, inter-linkages between the subsectors and way forward to finalize the ESA. The Sub-Sectoral Groups meets on a weekly basis with the technical facilitation of UNESCO - IIEP to elaborate the objectives and programmes.
