Post-conflict reconstruction in the education sector: summer school report

The purpose of the 2003 Summer School was to share knowledge and experience among middle and senior level-staff of governments and agencies responsible for education in post-conflict situations. One of the principal goals of this Summer School was to review education in post-conflict reconstruction situations with the aim of identifying concrete lessons that can assist the achievement of Education for All goals. The Summer School directly addressed the international community's commitment expressed in paragraph 8 (v) of the Dakar Framework for Action, to “meet the needs of education systems affected by conflict, natural calamities and instability and conduct educational programmes in ways that promote mutual understanding, peace and tolerance, and that help to prevent violence and conflict.”
