Against the exceptional backdrop of the global health crisis, the High-Level Reflection Group met for the third time on Friday, 17 July 2020 in an online meeting so as to present their work to the Director-General.

Many topics were discussed regarding the need to achieve inclusive education, notably through emerging technologies, to take action against climate change, to fight against all forms of racism and discrimination and to build open and peaceful societies, while drawing lessons from the COVID-19 crisis.

The members of the Group unanimously welcomed UNESCO's action in response to this global crisis, in particular the work carried out to provide the best possible support to the most vulnerable populations. The importance of taking action to reduce inequalities in the world must spearhead the Organization's efforts to build inclusive and peaceful societies.

The Director-General warmly thanked the members of the Group for the quality of their interventions and stressed the importance of their work in the service of the Organization.

A fourth meeting with the Group is planned for autumn 2020 in Paris, at the Organization's Headquarters, subject to global health conditions. In the event that this is not possible, online meetings will be organized, adapting to the individual situation of each member.

The Support Unit continues to support the Group by sharing the Organization's news and publications from the programme sectors, coordinating exchanges among members and developing topics considered to be of prime importance to the Organization.
