UNESCO and World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) signed an agreement to cooperate by developing activities in order to raise awareness and mobilize young Scouts to participate in World Heritage conservation and promotion.

As a main result of this agreement, WOSM produced the “World Scouting-UNESCO World Heritage Recognition Programme Guidelines” in collaboration with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. It aims to encourage young people to take actions, develop World Heritage-related activities and strengthen their synergies with local communities,

The Guidelines provide the needed information on how young Scouts can participate and get involved in the protection and preservation of World Heritage.

UNESCO and WOSM believe this initiative will educate and empower youth to promote World Heritage and help protect it.
