The Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX)

The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) is a joint endeavor between the GPE and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) to support GPE partner countries to accelerate progress to meet Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 for quality education. Working together within regional Hubs, GPE country partners will collect, generate, exchange and facilitate effective use of data, knowledge and innovation for robust education policy formulation and implementation.

Each regional Hub aims to take stock of demand-driven regional knowledge, build countries’ capacities to apply knowledge and innovation in education policy, widely disseminate context-specific evidence across the regional eco-system of education actors and mobilize knowledge and evidence to strengthen national education systems and improve learning outcomes.

The KIX Hubs will focus primarily on six thematic areas:

KIX themes

1. Strengthening learning assessment systems;

2. Improving teaching and learning;

3. Strengthening early childhood care and education;

4. Achieving gender equality in and through education;

5. Leaving no one behind; and

       6. Meeting the data challenge in education

The unique context of each region will guide the priorities within each of the six themes and may lead to the incorporation of other cross-cutting themes, such as the COVID-19 response and education in emergencies and crisis-affected areas. Gender equality will be an overarching priority across all thematic areas.

In Africa, the KIX Africa Hub themes will clearly align to the global and regional agendas: SDG4 and the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA 16-25).
