Postponement of the 2020 Campaign of the World Heritage Volunteers Initiative

In view of the current global pandemic and following the extraordinary measures being taken to tackle the spread of COVID-19 globally, the 2020 Campaign of the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Initiative has been postponed to 2021.

In order to offer more flexibility and facilitate the implementation of the projects next year, the 2020 and 2021 Campaigns of WHV have been merged as follows:

  • A new Call for Projects will be launched for the 2021 Campaign soon, for organizations that may wish to participate in 2021.
  • The organizations that have been selected for the 2020 Campaign are eligible to implement their projects in 2021, and will not have to undergo a re-application and selection process with this new Call, unless they wish to propose additional projects.

Despite the unprecedented challenge posed by COVID-19, the World Heritage Volunteers Initiative has the confidence in the collective ability of all the stakeholders to rise to this challenge, in full compliance with the values of cooperation, mutual understanding and respect, all of which form the pillars of the Initiative.
