Russian language virtual roundtable on digital technologies and the futures of education

[Online Consultation] UNESCO-NORRAG

On the 8th of September, within the UNESCO’s Futures of Education global initiative leading Russian education experts gathered to explore possible deep and fundamental transformations in societies, politics, economies and cultures in the future. The virtual round table focused on lessons learnt broadly from the COVID-19, opportunities and risks of technification of education, new competencies and models of their shaping, as well as the processes of transformation of education for the sake of humanity and sustainable development of the planet. 


This Russian-language webinar was co-organized by UNESCO’s Education Research and Foresight programme and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education. Mr Alexander Molchanov, founder of LLC Professional E-education, moderated discussion.


The following key topics were tackled in the session:

  • Trends and scenarios for the change of education paradigm: technologies and institutional aspects

  • Lifelong learning for the future world of work: upskilling or reskilling, evolution or revolution?

  • Education for the workless society

  • Skills for the future: acquisition models 

  • Disruptive potential of increasing use of technologies in education: new opportunities and new divides

  • Revisiting the humanistic values of education for the future

  • Lessons learnt from online teaching and learning during COVID-19 and the next normal of education
