From 17 to 21 October, the Creative City of Nassau, led by Creative Nassau, participated in its peer's International Ceramics Fair, Jingdezhen, whose event is world renowned. 

Considered the “Porcelain Capital” of China and renowned for its millennial history of crafts and expertise, the city of Jingdezhen has held its annual International Ceramics Fair displaying works from countries such as China, North and South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey, Netherland, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States. The event has drawn a wide and international audience, as well as artists, artisans, designers, collectors, entrepreneurs, scholars, and many others, setting the perfect stage for the sharing of experiences, knowledge and best practices.

Participating for the second time and illustrating the UCCN objective of strengthening international cooperation between cities that have recognized creativity as a strategic factor of their sustainable development, Nassau was proud to represent the Bahamas through the presentation of a booth curated by Bahamian ceramic artist, Alistair Stevenson, who is studying towards a degree in Jingdezhen. Stevenson presented a series of over 20 porcelain sculptures examining “The Fragility of Life” as a continuing theme in his “Fragility” series, also inviting Japanese sculptor, Hidemi Tokutake, to be a guest artist in the display.

The Creative Nassau booth won the attention of many international visitors as well as extensive media attention, and it had the honor of being visited by Jingdezhen’s Mayor, Ms Yi Mei, to whom Stevenson presented one of his works as an expression of gratitude.
