On 19 September 2020, the UNESCO learning city of Evry-Courcouronnes will host its first major learning city event on the topic of science and learning. It joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning in 2019.

The event celebrates the launch of Evry’s Micro-Folie, a digital museum and space for learning activities designed with and for the city’s inhabitants. This project is supported by the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with a dozen French national museums, as well as by the SIANA association, which promotes links between art and science.

The exciting programme for the event includes a public roundtable with experts and local officials to discuss the role of lifelong learning at city level. Later in the day, the municipality will unveil the learning city’s new logo and host a knowledge forum with exhibitions for the sharing and exchange of knowledge, in partnership with local cultural and economic partners, and citizens. The event will conclude with performances by local choirs and by the university student orchestra.

Representatives of fellow learning cities, Clermont-Ferrand, Mantes-la-Jolie and Montpellier, will be present, marking the first gathering of all French learning cities!

The public roundtable, to take place at 14:30 CET, will be live-streamed on the city’s Facebook account.
