Call for participation now! UNESCO YouthMobile Seed-Grants for Africa Code Week 2019

02/08/2019

UNESCO YouthMobile Seed-Grants support local organizations to implement Africa Code Week workshops. The project aims to empower girls with digital skills and equip teachers with coding knowledge to teach more students in the future.

UNESCO YouthMobile is joining forces with SAP and partners for the fourth year to organize Africa Code Week (ACW), the largest annual coding event on the African continent. Since 2015, more than 4 million children and trainers have participated in ACW training workshops and events. The event targets to reach 1.5 million youth in the continent in 2019.

To help build community capacity and bridge the gap between girls and boys in terms of digital skills, UNESCO, in cooperation with SAP and non-profit partner, the Camden Education Trust, will select and assign Seed-Grants (1,000 to 2,000 USD)  local implementation partners (public institutions or registered non-profit organizations). This will help the recipient organizations deliver hands-on coding workshops for girls and/or gender-balanced Train-the-Trainer sessions for teachers and trainers in their local communities during ACW 2019.

Organizations are welcomed to submit their proposals for the Africa Code Week workshops on the ACW website to apply for the grant. More information and the link to the application are available at: http://africacodeweek.org and http://bit.do/acw2019-unesco-grant.

The UNESCO YouthMobile initiative deploys projects worldwide to promote training in digital technology and to enable young women and men with the skills they need to solve local challenges.
