Open Call for Bucheon’s first Diaspora Literary Award (BUDILIA)

When:
Mon, 08/24/2020 to Fri, 10/30/2020

Bucheon, a UNESCO Creative City of Literature in the Republic of Korea, is organizing the first Bucheon Diaspora Literary Award (BUDILIA).

Illustrating the transformative power of literature, the theme of the award highlights the essence of literature in sublimation of historical moments, lived experiences and the process of identity formation. The city invites authors, publishers, professors, literature experts, literary organizations and educational institutions from the UNESCO Creative Cities and elsewhere, to submit their novel or translated work in relation to the theme of diaspora, in Korean or English.

The award ceremony is foreseen to be held in autumn of 2021, selecting the best author and the best translator, and awarding a prize money of up to 50 million KRW (approximately 42,000 USD).

Interested participants can send their submissions until 30 October 2020.
