Film de Shyam Benegal, sur les débuts du chemin de Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi et sur ses 21 années passées en Afrique du Sud.
Un film inspiré du livre "L'apprentissage d'un mahatma" de Fatima Meer qui a aussi écrit le scénario.
Film de 2 h 24 minutes, 1996, sous-tirée en anglais.
