Fifth annual coordination meeting of Category 2 Centres in the field of ICH

From 10 – 11 September 2017, the ‘Fifth Annual Coordination Meeting of Category 2 Centres (C2C) active in the field of intangible cultural heritage’ will be held in Shiraz, Islamic Republic of Iran.

Hosted by the Regional Research Centre for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia in Iran, the meeting covers a number of important issues, including the recent developments in the life of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the new Programme and Budget of the Organization (document 39 C/5). Other items on the agenda also include discussions of the working methods and processes between the category 2 centres and UNESCO Field Offices, the work plans and possible future activities undertaken by the centres, and the possible synergies and cooperation among them and with the UNESCO Secretariat.

Along with the UNESCO Secretariat, the meeting includes representatives from the hosting centre, the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe, the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (CRIHAP), the International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI), the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Latin America (CRESPIAL), and the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP).
