Saimon Mambazo Phiri

Nationality: Zimbabwe
UN Working Languages:
English
Mr Saimon Mambazo Phiri is a Zimbabwean producer, director, writer and arts entrepreneur who has worked extensively in Zimbabwe, Africa, Europe and other parts of the world. His major work has been in music, theatre and dance. When writing, Mr Mambazo Phiri bases his stories or music on social issues and people's stories. He has tried to facilitate his growth as a person not only through the acts, productions or organisations of which he subscribes to, but also through the wealth of knowledge that is on offer from other communities, cultures, and the many artists themselves with whom he has no formal association or affiliation. As a result he believes that he has learnt to listen, consider thoughts and opinions different to his own, which he feels is important if one is to be involved in work that entails dealing with people and writing about their aspirations, dreams and at times their lives
