Fourth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education
20 November 2019

On 5 December 2019, the fourth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE 4) will be launched in Brussels, Belgium. Based on data from 159 countries, the report assesses global progress in adult learning and education (ALE). The focus of this fourth edition of the report is participation in ALE from the perspective of equity and inclusion. The authors show how participation in adult learning and education contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Education and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in general.

GRALE 4 builds upon previous GRALE reports to provide evidence of change in adult learning and education over time. The GRALE series increases awareness of ALE across the globe and advocates for higher levels of interest and investment from policy-makers and stakeholders. At the same time, it encourages dialogue and peer learning among a wide range of stakeholders in Member States.

The international launch is organized by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, the Lifelong Learning Platform and the EU Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion within the framework of Lifelong Learning Week 2019, ‘Learning Democracy, Values and Participation’.
