Now in French: Literacy in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts: Effective Approaches to Adult Learning and Education

21 February 2017

To showcase best-practice examples of literacy programmes around the world, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) has published a series of thematic compilations drawn from the UNESCO Effective Literacy and Numeracy Practices Database (LitBase). Today, to mark International Mother Language Day, the Institute is pleased to present its ‘Literacy in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts: Effective Approaches to Adult Learning and Education’ compilation in French.

This publication comprises 21 effective and promising educational programmes that use mother-tongue and/or minority-language instruction. Bilingual or multilingual approaches to teaching and learning greatly enhance literacy and numeracy skills and lays the foundation for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in different regions of the world.

In producing this compilation in French, UIL hopes to bring the information provided in its LitBase portal to a wider audience.
