The African World Heritage Fund, a Category II Center in South Africa under the auspices of UNESCO, is pleased to announce the launch of the first edition of the Nomination Training Course for Arabic-speaking African countries, organized in partnership with the World Heritage Centre, the Algerian Ministry of Culture, the Spanish Agency for International Developement Co-operation, IUCN, ICOMOS and ICCROM.

Since 2008, the Fund has been organizing training courses to assist African countries in the preparation procedures of nomination files for inscription of cultural or natural sites on the World Heritage List.

This initiative tends to contribute to the balance, representativeness and credibility of the List in enhancing African heritage's presence on it.

In order to increase the number of African sites inscribed on the World Heritage List, this training course helps the African States Parties to :

(i) Develop their institutional and professional capacities for the preparation of nomination files which meet all current requirements in the field, and

(ii) Create a network of informed and qualified African institutions and professionals, in the implementation of the inscription procedure.

The course is open to a maximum number of 6 participants for each country who are already working in the preparation of nomination files for cultural and natural sites in their country.
