The National Heritage Board of Poland is honoured to host a Promotional meeting of the Polish edition of “Managing Cultural World Heritage – World Heritage resource manual”, which will take place on 26 and 27 November 2015 in Katowice (Poland).

The programme of the meeting is divided into three thematic blocks:

  1. The promotion of “Managing Cultural World Heritage – World Heritage resource manual” 
    During this block the publishers – UNESCO World Heritage Centre and ICCROM, and leading authors will present the importance of an adequate management in the protection of the World Heritage. The Manual aims to provide practical guidance for managers of World Heritage properties and, more broadly, areas of special cultural significance.Polish edition of the Manual was published by the National Heritage Board of Poland. 

  2. Heritage management in practice
    It will be an opportunity to present practical aspects of management and its importance to the protection and conservation of properties of outstanding cultural significance. Three case studies will be presented on specific properties from Poland and the United Kingdom.   

  3. Action Plan for Europe and Poland
    The Action Plan is a document adopted by the World Heritage Committee at its 39th session (Bonn, 2015), based on the results of Second Cycle of Periodic Reporting. A summary of the Second Cycle of Periodic Reporting, as well as assumptions of the Action Plan and methods of its implementation in Poland will be presented by the National Heritage Board of Poland.

The meeting is addressed to an array of stakeholders involved in the protection and conservation of heritage, especially the World Heritage properties in Poland: site managers, conservation authorities, local and state authorities, NGOs, as well as university lecturers and students. An attendance of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe’s World Heritage National Focal Points is very welcomed.
