As part of its Action Research: Measuring Literacy Programme Participants’ Learning Outcomes (RAMAA) programme, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) was invited to provide teaching units for the regional Engineering in Design and Management of Educational Alternatives (ICGAE) Master's programme at the École normale supérieure (ENS) of Abdou Moumouni University, Niger, from 29 January to 4 February 2019.
Thus twenty-three students from Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Niger and Togo, enrolled in this Master's degree, were able to benefit from theoretical and practical training on the measurement of learning outcomes.
The ICGAE Master's degree is an integral part of the Inter-institutional Regional Programme for Quality Education (PRIQUE) supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Its main objective is to form a critical mass of national experts capable of identifying training needs, implementing training strategies, monitoring and evaluating learning and activities.
This programme, which is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4, to be achieved by 2030, also marks the beginning of constructive collaboration between UIL and ENS, which could lead to a formal agreement between the two institutions.
