Asia-Pacific regional workshop on learning cities: Learning for a sustainable future

  • 30 October 2017 to 31 October 2017
The first-ever Asia-Pacific regional workshop on learning cities, themed ‘Learning for a sustainable future’, will be held in Gwangmyeong, Republic of Korea, from 30 to 31 October 2017.

The two-day workshop in Gwangmyeong, Republic of Korea, will focus on the social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges that cities encounter and how they tackle them. It will also explore how different cities advance education and lifelong learning at a local level to assure sustainable development. Within this discourse, the workshop will particularly address the role of lifelong learning in facilitating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals; and how to measure this impact. Finally, the meeting will strengthen collaboration between regional member cities and stimulate regional exchange of experiences, thereby enhancing the implementation of the learning city concept in the Asia-Pacific region.

Member cities of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities and other city representatives in the region are invited to join the meeting. For further information and registration, interested delegates may contact learningcities@unesco.org.
