Tomorrow the fourth World Social Science Forum will kick off in Fukuoka, Japan. This year’s event will be dedicated to the theme “Security and Equality for Sustainable Futures” due to the emergence of new forms of war and conflict around the world.

The Forum is organised by the International Social Science Council (ISSC) supported by UNESCO, with the aim of guiding the world towards a sustainable and secure future.

From the 25 to 28 September, participants will look into various dimensions of security and their links to societies. The Forum will bring together researchers, funders, policymakers, and other stakeholders to:

  - discuss key societal challenges
  - take stock of social science contributions and capacities
  - make recommendations for future research, practice, and policy
