The Award Ceremony of the Prize was held on 3 February 1992 at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, and was attended by several personalities including:

- Mr Abdou Diouf, President of the Republic of Senegal, Patron of the Prize ;  - Ms Marie Bernard-Meunier, Chairperson of the Executive Board ;  
- Dr Henry A. Kissinger, Chairman of the Jury ;
- Mr Balla Keita, Minister of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire ; 
- Mr Jacques Chirac, Former Prime Minister, Mayor of Paris ; 
- Dr A. W. M. Burger, Ambassador of South Africa to France ; 
- Mr Jean-Christophe Mitterrand, Adviser to the French President on African Matters ;
- Mr Jean Foyer, Vice-Chairman of the Jury ; 
- Mr Abdus Salam, Vice-Chairman of the Jury ; 
- Mr Mohammed Hassan El-Zayyat, Member of the Jury ; 
- Mr Mohammed Bedjaoui, Member of the Jury ; 
- Mr Iba Der Thiam, Member of the Jury ; 
- Mr Misael Pastrana Borrero, Member of the Jury ; 
- Mr Federico Mayor, Director-General of UNESCO ;
- Mr Alioune Traoré, Executive Secretary Prize.
