Following the success of its first edition, LIM (Less is More), the European platform for project development of limited budget features films, has launched its 2018 call for applications, offering to a new generation of talented filmmakers, as well as artists of all kinds – from theatre, documentary and visual arts – the opportunity of designing their own limited budget film project.

The platform is led by Le Groupe Ouest and developed in partnership with Krakow Festival Office – KBF (Poland), Control N (Romania), Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds – VAF (Belgium), and the Transilvania International Film Festival – TIFF.

LIM aims at demonstrating how working on a limited budget can effectively stimulate creativity and how financial constraints can translate into a vector for developing new visual and narrative expressions.

The scheme, which includes the script development as well as meeting with potential producers or partners, will involve one-week workshops in three European regions. These workshops, acting as creative incubators, aim at assisting the authors in going further into the creative process, beyond the financial limitations.

“Through limitations, you dig vertically into a story. Limitation is a tool that focuses a project on what is most essential. That is character, plot, location, style. Without constraints, it is often hard to concentrate on what matters most and find your form” highlights Antoine Le Bos, LIM’s Artistic Director.

Ultimately, LIM’s goal is to generate the creation of a European network of professionals working around limited or micro-budget feature film, contributing to the mobility of artists and creative interactions at the European level.
