Masala Weltbeat Festival and World Market in Hannover Alive with the Sound of Diversity

Masala Weltbeat Festival and World Market in Hannover Alive with the Sound of Diversity

When:
Fri, 05/12/2017 to Sun, 05/21/2017

The philosophy of the MASALA Weltbeat Festival is “diversity”, just like masālā, the fiery mixture of spices of Indian cuisine. The main program of the festival's 22 year-long history, has showcased 290 bands from more than 80 different countries.

Music is at the forefront, but it is not just about the composition of sounds but especially about creating a language that everyone understands to foster a vibrant social cohesion. In addition, workshops, dance classes, theatre, exhibitions, extensive children's and family’s activities complete the rich program.

The free outdoor MASALA world market is the festival's main highlight. This year’s market put the spotlights on bands of the UNESCO Creative Cities of Music, including those from Brazzaville, Bologna, Salvador, Bogota and Hannover. The audience can also enjoy a wide range of street food stalls or look for handicraft. Sounds, colors, smells and treats from all over the world!
