The 4th edition of the International Award UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21 has been launched!

The 4th edition of the International Award UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21 has been launched!

When:
Fri, 11/15/2019 to Wed, 03/18/2020

Since the adoption of the Agenda 21 for culture in 2004, UCLG United Cities and Local Governments promotes the exchange of experiences and improves mutual learning around culture and sustainable development through different activities, such as the International Award “UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21”.

The Award aims at recognizing a policy, a programme or a project that explicitly includes the principles of the Agenda 21 for culture. Cities, local and regional governments are invited to apply for the category for “City/Local Government” and share their cultural initiatives for sustainable development of local communities.

The Award is given to the local or regional government candidate that wins a competitive call process, showcasing how its cultural initiatives have contributed to link culture with civic engagement, social inclusion and sustainable development.

All UNESCO Creative Cities are invited to apply to the International Award “UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21” until 18 March 2020.

The initiative presented should count on, at least, two years of implementation and have documented proof of the impact and the successes achieved.

The winning city will receive the amount of EUR 50,000, which will be used for its international promotion (the publication of a book, participation in forums, international visibility) and to strengthen the local implementation of the Agenda 21 for Culture.

Please note that the Jury may also recognize other cities’ applications as “good practices in culture and sustainable cities” to disseminate them internationally.

For more information about how to apply, visit the website of the Award and read the regulation
