Dénia to Launch the First Edition of D*na Gastronomic Festival

Dénia to Launch the First Edition of D*na Gastronomic Festival

When:
Fri, 09/29/2017 to Sun, 10/01/2017

Dénia, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, together with the Valencian Board for Tourism, will hold from 29 September  to 1 October, the 1st edition of the D*na Gastronomic Festival born from a passion for Mediterranean food and local products.

This open event will count on the presence of no less than 50 world-class cooks, artisans and local producers. They will demonstrate, along with decorated three-starred Michelin chef and gastronomic commissar Quique Dacosta, their creative abilities through show-cooking, workshops, conferences and show how gastronomy and local food production help towards the success of a sustainable development in communities. In this framework, the city will also simultaneously host a UNESCO Creative Cities for Gastronomy meeting.

This Festival of Mediterranean Cuisine will constitute an important showcase for participating cities and for the cultural promotion of food. It will thus be the occasion to display and share a diversity of food cultures. During the festival, the city’s main promenade will become a hub of activity for visitors to buy local produce, to attend lectures about cuisine or to taste local food.

The UNESCO Creative Cities meeting will represent an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Cities of Gastronomy, through the sharing of experience, projects and studies.  No doubt, this meeting and the festival will generate a strong national and international interest, contributing in putting forward the objectives of the Network.
