Hainan Province Cihang Foundation

Since 2016, the Hainan Province Cihang Foundation (People’s Republic of China) has been working closely with the World Heritage Centre to ensure effective strategic restoration of World Heritage properties with a focus on cultural sustainability that will benefit local communities.  The partnership supports the recovery and rehabilitation of cultural heritage in the Kathmandu Valley (Nepal) project and is designed to achieve the desired state of conservation of the monuments and sites of the Kathmandu Valley World Heritage property and Tentative List sites which suffered extensive damage by the 2015 earthquakes. This project includes capacity building and strengthening of national institutions and craftspeople through the provision of on-the-job training and by using traditional technologies in rebuilding heritage and the development of a systematic database for cultural heritage. The Hainan Province Cihang Foundation was established by the HNA Group in 2010.
