Preparation of the Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting Exercise for Europe and North America - Group B

Madam, Sir,

Further to the circular letter CL T /WHC-13/18 transmitting the Decision 37 COM 10B adopted by the World Heritage Committee at its 37th session concerning the Progress report on the second cycle of the Periodic Reporting exercise for Europe and North America, I wish to inform you that the Focal Points and Site Managers of Group B are invited to complete the online Periodic Reporting questionnaires from 1 September 2013 to 31 July 2014.

The World Heritage Centre will send the access information for the questionnaire by e-mail to the designated Focal Points and Site Managers by 1 September 2013. It will be therefore important that the World Heritage Centre has at its disposal the latest contact details of the Site Managers in the database to ensure a timely start of the exercise.

I would therefore like to ask you to revise and update the attached table of contact information of site managers of all World Heritage properties in your territory.

This contact information should include:

  • State Party
  • World Heritage property
  • Pre-fix (Ms/Ms)
  • Last name
  • First name
  • Title
  • Organization
  • e-mail address

To facilitate the update of this information, an Excel file will be sent by e-mail in Annex of this letter. If you have not received it, please contact Ms Alexandra Fiebig, Focal Point for the Periodic Reporting exercise (e-mail: a.fiebig@ unesco.org).

Please note that the revision of the contact information of site managers is requested only in case the information provided in the Excel file is not up-to-date.

July 2013 to the abovementioned e-mail address. Please note that late submission of the information requested would significantly hamper the overall process of the Periodic Reporting exercise and I would therefore appreciate it if you could ensure its timely submission. 

May I also take this opportunity to remind you about the dates of the upcoming sub-regional Periodic Reporting meetings:

The national Focal Points for Periodic Reporting from the MediterraneanEuropean
sub-region shall meet in Florence, Italy, from 17 to 18
September 2013, at a workshop hosted by Italy and organized in
collaboration with the World Heritage Centre
The national Focal Points for Periodic Reporting from the Central,
Eastern and South-Eastern Europe Countries shall meet in Baku,
Azerbaijan, from 29 to 31 October 2013, at a workshop hosted by Azerbaijan and organized in collaboration with the World Heritage Centre All Focal Points from the Europe and North America region are invited to attend the Periodic Reporting Mid-cycle Review Meeting which is scheduled to take place on 22 November 2013 after the 19th session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention at UNESCO Headquarters. The one-day meeting will be an opportunity to present the results of the preliminary analysis for the European Periodic Report for Group A and discuss the way forward with the overall regional report for Europe to be presented at the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee in 2015. The Europe and North America Unit will send the official invitation letter and meeting agenda shortly.
