Uplifting the perception of the List of World Heritage in Danger
Renewing the communication strategy on the List of World Heritage in Danger to reverse its current negative perception
The World Heritage Centre has developed a project with the objective to conduct an overall reflection and study on the image/perception of the List of World Heritage in Danger and to develop a strategy to reverse this negative perception and highlight both the implications and the benefits of this fundamental component of the Reactive Monitoring framework.
In addition, as part of this project, appropriate information material to uplift the profile of the List of World Heritage in Danger and contribute to present it as a more favorable tool will be developed.
The envisaged study will include data and information gathering through a desk review of statutory texts, working and information documents, webpages and governing bodies’ decisions as well as prior studies on the topic and interviews with the staff of the Convention Secretariat, the Advisory Bodies, State Party representatives, Committee members and experts as needed.
One of the expected outputs of the study should be a set of recommendations, including a communication strategy, addressed at the various stakeholders of the World Heritage Convention in order to help overcoming the current negative perception of the List of World Heritage in Danger.
In addition, it is envisaged that the results of this study will be presented to the World Heritage Committee during its 45th session (June/July 2021).
