Following Decision 35 COM 7B.119 approved by the World Heritage Committee in June 2011, an international meeting of experts to elaborate regulations and guidelines for the development of a conservation plan for Tiwanaku: Spiritual and Political Centre of the Tiwanaku Culture (Bolivia), property inscribed in the World Heritage List in 2000 under criteria (iii) and (iv), will be held in Tiwanaku from 27 to 29 August 2012.

Participants in the meeting include international and national experts in several fields, such as archaeology, architecture, engineering, geology/geomorphology, as well as intervention.

This meeting, jointly organized by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, UNESCO Office in Quito and the Ministry of Cultures of Bolivia, is financed by the UNESCO/Japan Funds-in-Trust for the preservation of World Heritage.
