Hungary - Bibliotheca Corviniana

The Bibliotheca Corviniana was the library of King Matthias in the second half of the 15th century. After the king’s death and during the Turkish occupation the collection has been dispersed. Today the remaining pieces of the collection are to be found in 50 libraries.

The National Széchényi Library started its programme entitled Bibliotheca Corviniana Digitalis in 2001 with the aim to reconstruct King Matthias’ library with the help of modern technology. 35 corvinas kept at the National Széchényi Library have been digitized at the National Széchényi Library. More information about the programme can be found on its website.
