Wanda Munoz, Inclusion, Victim Assistance and Humanitarian Disarmament Expert, Human Security Network in Latin America- SEHLAC
Wanda Muñoz is an international consultant with fifteen year-experience in the fields of human rights, humanitarian disarmament and international development. She is a member of the Human Security Network in Latin America and the Caribbean (SEHLAC), which is part of an international civil society campaign that aims to ban of autonomous weapons in International Humanitarian Law. Wanda raises awareness about the ethical, legal and humanitarian risks of such weapons by engaging in dialogue with AI and legal experts, diplomats, academics, students and civil society organizations. In particular, she studies the disproportionate impact that autonomous weapons would have in the Global South, and on women and marginalized groups. In 2020, she joined the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) as an independent expert, nominated by Mexico, for the working group on Responsible Use of AI, where she currently focuses on how AI can contribute to improving basic education. She is also working with Humanity & Inclusion and UNFPA on intersectional models to respond to gender based violence in Latin America, including through innovative use of technologies for women with disabilities and indigenous women.
