Launch of the The Salzburg Statement for a Multilingual World at UNESCO Bangkok #IMLD2018 event

Salzburg Global Seminar launches "The Salzburg Statement for a Multilingual World at UNESCO Bangkok on the occasion of International Mother Language Day 2018. The statement is the culmination of an in depth series of meetings with experts and key stakeholders from around the region on the need to transform language learning around the world. It is a call to action for policy-makers around the world to uphold multilingualism and language rights, including the benefits of the use of mother tongue in education, particularly in a child's earliest years of schooling. Dr. Kirk Person, a member of the Asia-Pacific Mother tongue-based multilingual education working group, which is chaired by UNESCO Bangkok and UNICEF EAPRO, helped draft the statement. The Salzburg statement is available in multiple languages here: http://education.salzburgglobal.org/s...
