Karlsruhe launches Call for participation for UNDERGROUND Film Award
Karlsruhe (Germany), a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts, has launched an international short film competition titled “UNDERGROUND Film Award”, alongside with INDEPENDENT DAYS | Internationale Filmfestspiele Karlsruhe, the city’s largest film festival, and Filmboard Karlsruhe.
The award aims to support independent filmmakers and media artists from all over the world with financial assistance (3,000 euros) for their short film projects that tell stories in a creative and unusual way. The award ceremony and the premiere of the selected artwork will take place as part of the 2021 edition of the INDEPENDENT DAYS | Internationale Filmfestspiele Karlsruhe, foreseen to be held in Autumn.
Several UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts worldwide, including Braga (Portugal), Guadalajara (Mexico), Košice (Slovakia) and Viborg (Denmark), have expressed their support to the competition and have encouraged their local creatives to participate.
With this initiative, the city intends to further foster experiences sharing and professional and artistic exchanges, as well as to strengthen cooperation between Creative Cities, in line with achieving the objectives of the Network.
Interested participants are invited to submit their application before May 31, 2021.
