T4P Youth Voices: New perspectives on peace in the Asia-Pacific

Share your voice! To strengthen and embed UNESCO’s work on peace, UNESCO Bangkok, in partnership with the Governments of Japan and Thailand, is launching “Together 4 Peace: Regional Dialogue on the role of education in building a Peaceful and Sustainable Future in Asia-Pacific”.

UNESCO has created five T4P youth videos that highlight young people’s efforts across the Asia-Pacific in building a peaceful and sustainable future. The videos show the different ways that youth work towards peace through education, the sciences, culture and communications with underlying themes emphasizing both formal and informal education.

These videos should inspire other young people to participate by reflecting on the question “What can I do for peace?”

Please share your opinions by filling out the T4P survey so your voices can be heard during the dialogue.

Over the span of five weeks, UNESCO Bangkok will be posting short videos profiling youth in the region

Heritage through art education

Secondary-school student Puncharat Chaichanawanich (Jaa) created the Bencharong Spanning the Generation Programme in order to promote the traditional art form Bencharong among students in Thailand and beyond. #T4P #Together4Peace

Climate justice through journalism

Renee Karunungan, from the Philippines, is a climate journalist and a “Climate Tracker”. She is working on climate justice because she believes that young people have the right to have a secure future. #T4P #Together4Peace

 KPIS Plastic Initiative

Young students from KPIS International School worked with artist Khun Chai to create the Plastic Waste Sculpture. The students helped write handwritten messages included in the sculpture to share their environmental perspectives with the world. #T4P #Together4Peace

Empowering LGBTI communities

Young activist Lattavanh Sengdala (Kai) is a transgender woman from Vientiane who is empowering LGBTQI persons living in Lao PDR. #T4P #Together4Peace

Mother-tongue based multi-lingual education

The work of youth Oranee Jariyapotngam highlights a project about mother-tongue based multi-lingual education (MTB-MLE). She supports equitable quality education for disadvantaged indigenous children by promoting the use of their first language. #T4P #Together4Peace
