Eat Art Festival, Östersund’s cross-cultural food festival
From 10 to 13 June 2019, Östersund, Sweden, celebrated the nordic artisan soul food through the Eat Art Festival. The event aimed at exploring new food experiences by combining cultural traditions and creativity while fostering more sustainable patterns within the food production.
The 3-days festival included workshops, exhibitions and talks to raise awareness about linkages between gastronomy, culture and sustainable development among the general public.
Local food designers, artists, international chefs, several Creative Cities of Gastronomy, as well as the Creative City of Norrköping (Music) joined together to showcase creative ways to avoid food waste, to reuse food products in the fashion industry and to exchange experience on sustainable gastronomy.
Through a creative mix of education and entertainment, which translated into pop up restaurants, market stands, live music and food walks, the festival enhanced knowledge sharing to leverage concrete action towards more sustainable lifestyles.
On this special occasion, Östersund inaugurated an exhibition celebrating the 10-year anniversary as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, putting the spotlight on gastronomy, culture and sustainable urban development across the city.
