Eat Art Festival 2020 – Cross Cultural Food Festival Goes Virtual in Östersund
Östersund, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and the region of Jämtland Härjedalen in Sweden, will organize virtually the 4th edition of the Eat Art Festival from June 1st to 15th. The festival is a regional cross-cultural food event dedicated to sustainable food development in a cultural and creative context. It also marks the celebration of Östersund's 10 years of dedicated work as an UNESCO Creative City since 2010.
With the ongoing outbreak of the COVID-19 disease, for the first time the Eat Art 2020 will be organized virtually. The festival will offer people virtual gastronomic treats and activities while respecting the recommendations on physical distancing. The core of the festival is to bring people from different backgrounds together and open up to new horizons in the post-coronavirus landscape.
The festival will combine local artisan food producers, restaurants, and artists with streaming activities to raise awareness about local food production. The festival will comprise of a variety of activities including virtual cheese tasting, cook-a-long, food for immune system, and outdoor cooking sessions with live music.
The activities during the festival are foreseen to take place in Swedish. In addition, special sessions such as a discussion on food waste, are envisaged to be conducted in English on June 1st and 15th respectively.
