Between 8 and 10 July 2021, States Parties to the 2003 Convention and observers will be invited to participate in an Open-ended intergovernmental working group in the framework of the global reflection on the listing mechanisms of the 2003 Convention. Considering the recommendations to be made by the Category VI meeting of experts, States will discuss the main challenges related with the listing mechanisms of the Convention and propose directions for overcoming them during the three-day meeting.
Due to the evolving sanitary situation and travelling restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the modality of this meeting – whether it will be a face-to-face or an online meeting – cannot yet be determined. More information will be communicated as soon as possible.

The working documents for the expert meeting will be published on this page by 10 June 2021.

The sixteenth session of the Committee (Colombo, Sri Lanka, 13 to 18 December 2021) will provide opportunity for furthering intergovernmental discussions on this topic, and to propose relevant revisions to the Operational Directives for possible adoption
by the General Assembly in June/July 2022.
