Co-convened by UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education (IBE) and the Seychelles Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD), the second International Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is expected to involve a slate of international experts from various disciplines in ECCE from all global regions following a welcome from His Excellency Danny Faure, President of the Republic of Seychelles.

The conference theme “Big Data for Small Children: Monitoring Holistic Early Childhood Development” focuses on the increasingly prominent and critical area of data management in ECCE. Conference speakers will highlight the global data management opportunities and difficulties in ECCE, with comprehensive cross-sectoral solutions that include legal, financial, institutional, monitoring and evaluation, health and nutrition, education, and social protection frameworks.

A key aim of the conference is to emphasize the important of collection, retrieval, and management of data to strengthen policy environment and programs to monitor and improve data management and use for early childhood development.

The main objectives of the conference are to:
  1. Discuss national progress and other initiatives in ECCE since 2017 (the first biennial ECCE conference held in Seychelles)
  2. Share experiences and practices on ECCE by partner countries.
  3. Present and discuss global practices and trends in data management in ECCE
  4. Share examples of global big data systems and initiatives through live demonstrations and discussions
  5. Showcase the IBE’s Draft Global ECCE Prototype for ECCE resilient systems, and share progress.

The opening ceremony with President Faure will be held on the 21st February which will be followed by the main two-day conference on the 22nd and 23rd February. Conference details and registration are available here.
