A new call has been launched to promote projects led by young people from the region that provide answers to the challenges facing the oceans.
In the current pandemic context, it is essential to strengthen cooperation among young people in Latin America and the Caribbean. Youth is one of the groups most affected by the socio-economic effects of the crisis, as well as being a key group for the recovery process. Therefore, Comprometidos - the initiative of UNESCO, Ashoka and Socialab that convenes young people as agents of change in the region - is opening a new call for proposals, this year with the help of National Geographic, called "Comprometidos with the Oceans", aimed at highlighting projects that provide solutions to the problems affecting the oceans.
All initiatives will receive mentoring and online training through the application platform. Subsequently, 20 projects will receive specific support from entrepreneurs or professionals, academic partners of Comprometidos. Finally, six of them will receive specific training in leadership and entrepreneurship; and of these, three will receive a financial prize.
About Comprometidos
Comprometidos is the initiative organized by UNESCO, Ashoka and Socialab that since 2015 has been convening young changemakers in Latin America and the Caribbean who are leading initiatives that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. More than 10,000 young people have participated with 3631 proposals in its six editions.
This 2021 will be the seventh consecutive year that Comprometidos will take place.
