Designated UNESCO Champion for Girls' and Women's Education in 2019, she spoke about her role with the Organization:

"For me, education is important. If you want to change something in the world, it is with education. That's the reason (for her involvement with UNESCO). They are doing a fantastic job. There are many children who can't study or go to school. I hope this will change because if you want to change something, it will be with school."

Eijin Nimura's tribute in Ofunato City

Eijin Nimura also stopped by the "Ibasho House: A Communal Place in an Aging Local Community" (built after the earthquake by disaster reconstruction funds provided by the US company Honeywell.), where he interacted with local elderly people and played music for them.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, our UNESCO Artist for Peace, Eijin Nimura was invited by the Ofunato City to performed at a special memorial service, organised in respect with the sanitary measures in place. 

He played ”Loure” from Partita No. 3 in E major for solo violin, BWV 1006 by Johann Sébastien Bach. His performance was broadcasted on the radio the same evening.

Our UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Sport, Mr Sergey Bubka, joined the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6 with the White Card campaign. He also congratulated the super finalists of the "Brain Ring - Luhansk Olympic" held as part of Global Sports Week under the auspices of UNESCO.
