Bergen to Host the World Cheese Awards with the Participation of Creative Cities of Gastronomy

Bergen to Host the World Cheese Awards with the Participation of Creative Cities of Gastronomy

When:
Fri, 11/02/2018 to Sat, 11/03/2018

On 2 and 3 November, Bergen UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy will host the World Cheese Awards. The event will boost the interest for artisan cheese production and know-how. More than 3,500 cheeses will be judged by 230 international experts. A conference dedicated to entrepreneurs and a food festival open to the general public will also held. Several UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy will participate in this event and bring locally produced cheeses to the competition.

The artisan cheese industry in Norway garners a growing interest from the public. Food enthusiasts all over Bergen have also been inspired to host events related to cheese promotion, such as a Cheese Festival on 17 October organized in a primary school, which will welcome 500 children and 50 teachers, to raise awareness among the youngest generations.
