Call for nomination to the UNESCO-Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Prize for the Creative Economy

Deadline: 21 July 2021 (midnight Paris time, UTC+2)

In celebration of the 2021 UN International Year of Creative Economy, UNESCO is pleased to launch a call for nomination to the UNESCO-Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Prize for the Creative Economy. 

The nomination process takes place online through the UNESCO website and must be submitted in English or French

What is the UNESCO-Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Prize for the Creative Economy

Created in 2020, the 50,000 USD Prize is awarded on a biennial basis to outstanding examples of actions to support the development of entrepreneurship within the creative and cultural industries. The Prize, generously supported by the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, bears the name of Bangabandhu Sheifh Mujibur Rahman, in honour of the Father of the nation of Bangladesh, on the centenary of his birth. 

The first awarding ceremony will be held on the occasion of UNESCO’s 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference in November 2021.

Who may submit nominations for the Prize?

  • Government agencies from UNESCO Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions for UNESCO, and relevant Ministries working in the field of the creative economy
  • NGOs that have official partnerships with UNESCO  
  • International, regional and national professionals, academic and non-governmental organisations active in the field of the creative economy 

Who is eligible to be a nominee?

Individuals, institutions, organisations, entities, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that have made a significant contribution to the creative economy by devising and delivering innovative initiatives that promote youth entrepreneurship in the creative economy. 

How to submit a nomination?

Submit an online nomination form in English or French along with all requirements documents including National Commission’s endorsement letter to be uploaded online before 21 July 2021 (midnight Paris time, UTC+2)
