Llíria City of Music launches its first International Orchestra Conducting Competition

Building on its rich music scene and as a leading centre in musical training, Llíria (Spain), a UNESCO Creative City of Music, has opened registration to its first International Orchestra Conducting Competition. The Competition aims to discover and promote young conductors from around the world and offer them new opportunities to showcase their creative talent. Through cooperation with different Creative Cities, the competition will also aim to strengthen collaboration and exchange of knowledge in musical training.

Supported by the Spanish Association of Orchestra Conductors, young music conductors under the age of 35 from UNESCO Creative Cities and beyond are encouraged to register in the competition before 10 May 2021. The competition will be judged by a world-class jury members. Along with attractive financial prices, the awardees will be also invited to collaborate with international world-known orchestras such as the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Sevilla.

Creative City of Metz (France) and Sevilla (Spain) are active partners of the event. Other Creative Cities of Music, including Bologna (Italy), Liverpool (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) and Hannover (Germany), as well as associations, such as the “Musicians Without Borders”, have supported the initiative by sharing key information on the competition and inviting their local young music talents to participate.

Keeping in line with the 2030 Agenda, the Competition aims to contribute to Goal 4 on Quality Education. Interested participations can find detailed information regarding the Competition on the dedicated website.
